The search

hi guys

I know this is going to sound crazy but aren't you tired of the way extremists have hijacked our religion? Today people are afraid to say anything on the grounds that " I am not a scholar" "I'm not really sure what it says.." and that lack of knowledge is the reason why most of the "liberal" lot are being bullied into believing certain things...which as I am discovering ..if you read to understand what the Quran says... 70% of what we believe to be true is false. The Quran does not state or says the opposite of what we think it says. All it takes is us taking the time to read and understand it. From my understanding the Quran was not sent down just for scholars and maulvis to explain to us how to live our lives... I encourage you to look into The Book to see for yourself the message that God has sent for you.

No I haven't lost it.. and I'm not a fundo as you all very well know... just talking from personal experience... lets talk about this.. anyone?

why does this remind me of a certain someone who called on a certain show on a topic related to women in the professional work environment who said: "islam main aurat ko karne ki ijaazat nahin hai".
agreed. absolutely. its all about us understanding. i fail to understand why anyone wants to manipulate it all so much. where has the true meaning of islam meaning "peace" gone?

very well written post.Its sad but like every other religion on earth,Islam has also been hijacked by bunch of people.You know well religion is one of the pillar of politics in this world.Whether its done by zionists,by neoCons or by our psuedo islamic scholars.I watched your program in which you took interview of some jamat islami representative.The guy was a big hypocrite,had no clear idea about the religion at all.

Let me dare to disagree one of your point to understand quran.Well true Followers of Quran are asked to understand itself but there is always a need of *teacher*.Its very horrible fact that we dont get good teachers in majority.I dnt say there are no good teachers.I personally know few scholars who are not extreemist and one of them is yours/your hubby's friend Junaid Jamshed.

Its nice that ppl like jj,saeed anwar come forward and preach rather those illetrate molvis.

p.s:I love your program cutting edge.Pls foward my greetings to yawar hilali.You guys simply rock.

The problem is not that people have hijacked Islam; the problem is that we let them...we don't need jaahil moulvis and their rubbish, we need intelligent, thinking people to understand and tell the world about Islam so that the next time someone says something stupid like 'Islam is an anti-woman religion' one knows exactly how to dispel the notion. Methinks it's wonderful that you're reading the Quran; 'tis best to read it and understand it for yourself :)

JJ as an Islamic scholar is quite another debate...lol

just one thing to say that noone has hijacked islam. we the muslims per say dont even know what our religion is. we are muslims because our ancestors were muslims.
we dont practice our religion. we dont practice any religion. we as a nation is a disgrace to islam.
we dont need maulvees. we need people who have read islam and understand it and our smart and intelligent and can answer questions with an even basic knowledge of our religion.

its great to know that you are reading the Quran. and i hope that more importantly, you understand it.

Ayeshah, how can one be bullied in to "believing" something? Threat of physical violence (which most of us dont face everyday) can force us to SAY something you dont believe, but no one can force you to ever believe something.

well in my humble opinion, if one just accepts or is even indifferent to some of the hogwash being pushed as part of our religion because we couldn't be bothered to find out for ourselves.. for whatever reason, in a sense is form of bullying isn't it? Who is going to argue with someone who outwardly it would seem they would know all there is to know about a religion. Even indifference is a giving in. But that is my humble opinion. :)

Respected Mina:Offcourse JJ is not a a typical *scholar* but million times better than our might Qazi Hussien and others.I do have listen Junaid Jamshed on different occasion and he is a good learner.


@Ayesha:is it possible that you guys upload old episodes on businessplus website.Few of my friends did ask me about online version but I coudnt arrange things to make one myself and upload it.Hey your getup as Condi was so hilariousssssssssssssssssssss. You really looked like her sister.LOL

Read it yourself, by all means. Even believe in it, if you 'need' to. But get a life!

Best would be to read some opposing views as well. Not anti-Muslim, post-911 type of trash, but modern scholars like Sam Harris (Atheist), Ibn-e-Warrach (ex-Muslim), and Irshad Manji (Radical Muslim).

Dear all,

Today somehow I came across all the comments. Well the important thing is that atleast the moderators are talking about Islam and the need to understand the holy Quran. Yes I agree to the fact that there should be proper scholars and teachers for the purpose of understanding the ultimate religion and everyone seems to be for it. The issue is from where are we to find such teachers/scholars, some one (dont know who) has to step forward and start educating people the proper way, and what all islam is all about , only then I guess these so called maulvis can be encountered. The other most important thing is that, as rightly said all politics around the globe revolve around religion, and we are being targeted for being muslims, In my humble opinion we must gear up, try to do something to get rid of the fanatacism and paint a proper picture of what all we really are and try to convince the world that we are also normal human beings like any other. I think we (our govt) have and still are wasting a lot of precious time in giving clarifications to the world as regards Islam and in the meanwhile they (Our opponents) are gaining on us. If this keeps on going like this we will be left far behind.
